I am a resident of Clewiston, Florida, and like many others in our community, we find ourselves having to drive almost two hours just to shop at a Publix Supermarket, our preferred grocery store. This kind of commute is not only inconvenient but also impacts our need to have fresh, quality groceries available at affordable prices within our community.

Clewiston, home to over 7,600 citizens, would greatly benefit from a locally-situated Publix. The town currently has a lack of options for supermarkets that offer the level of service, quality, and affordability that Publix provides.

For environmental reasons, we also need to consider the carbon footprint generated due to our long commutes. Having a Publix right here in Clewiston would ultimately reduce these harmful emissions, helping to protect our community and the planet.

By approving the construction of a Publix in Clewiston, we could support job creation and economic development, now more critical than ever in these uncertain times. Publix, as reported by Forbes, is the largest employee-owned company in the United States, known for its outstanding employee benefits and company culture.
