Build a Public Rubberized Track Facility in Port St. Lucie
The Issue
Port St. Lucie is one of Florida's fastest-growing cities, and nowhere is that growth more evident than in the Tradition area on the southwest side of town. Despite the city's continued investment in parks, neighborhoods, and recreational spaces, there is currently no public rubberized track facility available for residents to walk, run, train, and exercise safely.
As a collegiate runner who returns home during the summer, I have personally experienced the lack of accessible training facilities. However, this issue extends far beyond competitive athletes. Residents of all ages—from children and high school athletes to families, seniors, and individuals simply looking to improve their health—would benefit from a dedicated community track.
A modern track facility would provide a safe and welcoming space for fitness and recreation. With proper lighting and year-round accessibility, it could serve as a hub for community wellness, walking groups, local running clubs, youth sports programs, and school teams. Research consistently shows that access to recreational facilities improves physical health, mental well-being, and social connectedness within communities.
Port St. Lucie's population continues to grow rapidly, making now the ideal time to invest in infrastructure that promotes healthy lifestyles for current and future residents. A public track could also attract local meets, community events, and visitors, providing an economic benefit to nearby businesses and further establishing Port St. Lucie as a city that prioritizes recreation and quality of life.
We are asking the Port St. Lucie City Council to prioritize the development of a public track facility in the Tradition area. This is more than a place to run—it's an investment in the health, well-being, and future of our community.
Please sign this petition and help bring a much-needed track facility to Port St. Lucie. Together, we can create a space that benefits everyone.
