Build a pedestrian bridge in Allen Park, MI

Build a pedestrian bridge in Allen Park, MI
The Issue
Living in Allen Park is a joy, but a physical barrier currently divides our community. Residents near the creek on the north side (Park Ave) are cut off from the beauty of Millward Park, while those on the south side (Park Street) lack a direct walking path to our city's center.
A pedestrian bridge at the end of Park Street and Park Ave is a win-win for everyone:
- Access to Recreation: It provides the Park Ave community with safe, direct access to the morning walks and activities we cherish at Millward Park.
- A Gateway to Downtown: Because Park Ave is a direct route to downtown Allen Park, this bridge would allow south-side residents to reach local businesses and community events without relying on a car or detours.
- A Healthier Neighborhood: By promoting walkability, we align with the National Recreation and Park Association's goals to improve mental health and community wellbeing through active transit.
- Park Accessibility: The bridge would link the north-side neighborhood directly to Millward Park, eliminating the current detour which acts as a barrier for families with young children and residents with mobility challenges.
We are proposing the construction of a pedestrian bridge connecting the the community. This project serves a dual purpose that benefits the city’s long-term infrastructure and economic goals.
Sign this petition to tell the Allen Park City Council that we want a more connected, walkable community.
