Build a new cell tower in North Vancouver

Build a new cell tower in North Vancouver
The Issue
We, the residents of North Vancouver near NE 45th Ave, are calling on Clark County to take urgent action to close a dangerous gap in cellular service.
Our neighborhood and surrounding 2-mile radius have no cell service from any major carrier. Calls, texts, and data do not work unless connected to Wi-Fi. Carriers insist coverage here is “adequate,” but we know the truth:
- We cannot reliably call 911 in emergencies.
- Families, seniors, and small businesses are cut off from basic communication.
- Hundreds of new homes are being built, making this problem worse every month.
This is a public safety crisis and a failure of essential infrastructure.
📖 Our Story
When I moved into this neighborhood about two years ago, a neighbor joked that there was “no service here” and we shouldn’t move in. Sadly, that turned out not to be a joke — it’s the reality for everyone in this area.
My family uses T-Mobile, but I have confirmed that no service provider works here. Neighbors with Verizon, AT&T, and other carriers all report the same: zero coverage.
I reached out to T-Mobile in July, and they admitted there was an issue in our area. Months later, they claimed it was fixed and told me they “don’t see this as a problem anymore.” But all of us who live here know the service has only gotten worse. Their final advice was to urge the local government to step in — which is why this petition exists.
This is not a rural community. It’s 2025, and we should all be able to:
- Take calls from home.
- Walk our dogs while chatting with friends.
- Call from the car while driving to the grocery store.
- Or most importantly — call 911 when Wi-Fi is down.
For example, when a car accident recently took down power lines, our Wi-Fi went out. In that moment, I couldn’t call anyone or even search for updates on what had happened. If someone had needed emergency services, they would have been completely cut off.
🛑 What We’re Asking For
We urge the Clark County Council and Community Development Department to:
- Work with carriers and tower companies to build a new wireless communications tower in our area.
- Recognize that current coverage maps do not reflect on-the-ground reality.
- Prioritize public safety and infrastructure for this growing community.
Together, we demand that Clark County ensure our neighborhood has the same basic cell service that most communities already take for granted.
✍️ Who Should Sign
- Residents of NE Vancouver and surrounding areas who cannot access reliable service.
- Anyone who supports equitable access to mobile connectivity and public safety.
