Build a National Fusion Energy Industry: Australia’s Next 20-Year Project Starts Now
The Issue
Australia needs to build a National Fusion Energy Industry:
Australia’s Next 20-Year Project needs to Start Now.
Why?
Australians are struggling with ever-increasing and higher bills, housing stress, and rising costs. Fusion energy can power our homes, farms, and industries with clean, reliable, affordable energy made right here in Australia, by Australians, for Australians.
Who We’re Addressing?
To the Prime Minister of Australia, the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, and Members of the Australian Parliament.
What’s the Problem?
Australians are being hit from every side: record power bills, mortgage pressure, wage stagnation, and uncertainty about energy supply.
We have been promised miracles from renewables and nuclear fission, but both come with limits and growing waste. Meanwhile, global competitors are racing ahead with fusion energy, clean, safe, 24-hour power from hydrogen, not uranium.
Australia already has the science, universities, and resources to lead this field. What we lack is federal coordination and commitment.
What We’re Asking For?
We call on the Australian Parliament to:
Establish a National Fusion Energy Program by 2026 to coordinate research, industry development, and regulation.
Fund an Australian Fusion Industry Taskforce linking universities, defence, and regional industries.
Develop Fusion Energy Precincts in regional manufacturing and resource zones.
Clarify legislation to distinguish fusion from fission and confirm fusion's legal standing in line with IAEA and international understandings for clean-energy investment.
Why It Matters?
Fusion is more than technology; it is an Australian industry, it is Australia’s next 20-year nation-building project.
It will lower household energy costs, strengthen regional jobs, reduce waste, and restore our energy sovereignty. Fusion can power every city, town, and farm cleanly and safely while protecting the environment and securing our children’s future.
Australia must not miss this chance again.
