The Issue

Skating has always been a way for me to unwind. Whenever life feels overwhelming, I find my peace maneuvering on my skateboard. Unfortunately, the closest skate park is more than three miles away, inconvenient for many skaters in Highland, Denver, who desire a more accessible location.

Currently, the only nearby skate park is situated downtown. While it's a nice facility, it presents challenges. Many parents hesitate to make the trip downtown due to traffic, safety concerns, and the inconvenience of the distance. This situation leaves young skaters and families without a local option to freely engage in this popular and beneficial activity.

The solution is clear: building a skate park in one of our local parks in Highland. By doing so, we can provide a safe, easily accessible place for skaters of all ages to enjoy. A local skate park wouldn't only serve as a recreational facility but as a community hub. It could foster new friendships, encourage the younger generation to stay active, and promote a healthy lifestyle which is so crucial in our society today.

According to the Tony Hawk Foundation, areas with skate parks see significant decreases in youth-related crime, as such facilities offer a constructive outlet for energy and creativity. Our community can benefit greatly from these positive impacts. A skate park in Highland could not only enhance community spirit but also promote positive activities among youth.

We need your support to bring this vision to life. Imagine a safe, nearby place where skaters can express themselves, improve their skills, and create memories. Stand with us to request the local authorities prioritize building a skate park in Highland.

By signing this petition, you will help harness community support and momentum towards establishing a local skate park. Let's make this a reality for everyone in Highland.
