Update on the Petition for Bridge and Vehicle Mitigation in Ormiston

Over 3700 signatures!  Thanks so much everyone for supporting our precious koalas.  I've written a 5 page submission, all backed by research and evidence, and sent to Redland City Council Acting Mayor Talty, CEO Louise Rusan, and Councillor Wendy Bolgary, who is happy to table our petition at the next meeting of council. I also needed a physical RCC petition as well for her to be able to table it, which I have done and which was signed by 40 wonderful people down at Ormiston College last Saturday afternoon (we only need ten signatures to table it).

After doing the research, it became clear that there is no evidence that a canopy bridge is effective - but culverts (underpasses), funnelling fencing and vehicle mitigation definitely are, so this is what I've requested:  

* variable message signage, speed cameras/radar enforcement, AI koala-detection tech, and traffic-calming measures

* koala-safe exclusion fencing paired with a culvert or underpass.

• variable message signage, AI koala-detection technology, speed camera or radar enforcement, and traffic-calming measures such as speed humps; 
•  long term, koala-proof exclusion fencing paired with a koala-sized culvert or bridge underpass, installed and maintained as Council's permanent solution for this location
