Living in Umina Beach, I've come to love the little green oasis between Connex Rd and Lovell Rd, known by many as the park on Veron Rd.  This area holds fond memories and present-day joy for many families and residents, including myself, who frequent the park for relaxation, enjoyment, and a touch of nature. Yet, despite its potential as a community gem, this park remains unfenced, raising concerns for safety and limiting its use as a space where people can let their children & dogs roam freely.

Imagine a park where dogs, who delight in open spaces, can run safely without the constant worry of darting onto the street. A fenced park would provide this peace of mind to the many dog owners who reside in Umina Beach. Moreover, it would serve as a haven not just for pets but for children and families, knowing there is a boundary that ensures safety from nearby roads and busy intersections.

Statistics show that local parks enhance community well-being and increase property values in the neighborhood. By transforming the Veron Rd park with a secure fence, we are not just investing in the safety and enjoyment of our pets but promoting community health and cohesion. Different towns in New South Wales have successfully converted open spaces into fenced dog-friendly parks, leading to happier and more engaged communities.

The benefits are clear. A fenced area would attract more visitors to the park, invigorate local ties, and provide more reasons for families, pet owners, and nature enthusiasts to come together. We propose the decision-makers within the Central Coast Council prioritize this project, ensuring that residents have secure and accessible leisure spaces.
