This isn’t just about a toy.
It’s about love. About grief. And about healing.
About the dogs who gave us everything.

My name is Savannah, and I lost my girls, Roxxy: a black and white pit bull terrier mix, who wasn’t just my pet... she was (and is) my world. My home. My light. She loved hard, snored loud, and looked at me like I hung the stars.

After she passed, I searched for something, anything, to hold onto.

I turned to Build-A-Bear, hoping to create a plush that looked like her. Something I could wrap my arms around when the silence got too loud.

But there wasn’t one.
Not even close.

There are plushes for Golden Retrievers, Labs, Dalmatians, Frenchies, & a Wolf… but nothing for dogs like Roxxy or your own pittie.

No stuffed animals with a sweet, square face made of love. No broad-chested, velvet-eared babies to pet.

Not one bear that captures the spirit of these deeply loving, seemingly forever misunderstood souls.

Dogs like Roxxy have been left out of toy shelves... just like they’ve been left out of so many other places in our world.

But those of us who’ve been loved by one; well, we know better.

We know their loyalty.
We know their gentleness.

We know their unrelenting and unconditional love.

And we know how hard it is to lose them.

So I’m asking, pleading... Build-A-Bear, with all the softness grief can hold, 

PLEASE create a plush inspired by pit bulls and terrier mixes!
Some for show. Some for play.
But truly... for the grieving. For those still sleeping with empty arms that are cold now.

Let’s give these dogs the space they deserve—not just in our homes, but in our healing.
