The Community Cat Program should be for feral cats/kittens 8weeks+ and 2#+ ONLY. Right now this program will allow friendly adoptable cats and kittens 8weeks+ and 2#+ to be dumped outside all of Montgomery County. The new shelter director Dr Hayden has no shelter experience and was hired a few months ago. He refuses to use the volunteer/foster base so these friendly cats/kittens can be placed in homes. He is dishonest when he implies these cats/kittens were euthanized before and this program is the only way to save them. MCAS has had a strong foster/volunteer base since 2008. A nonprofit was in place that covered all outside vetting. They were removed in 2015 with the last bad management company. If you live in Montgomery County, Tx please contact your local city official and tell them it is not ok for County Officials to allow the shelter director to dump these cats on the tax payers. Animal Control will not pick them up once they are placed outside. Friendly, adoptable cats/kittens belong in homes or foster homes where they are safe.
