On Tuesday, July 25, 2016, Mary Diemer filed an alleged complaint that Layla, the Pit Bull that is owned by Heather Stephens, attacked and killed her cat. Animal Control filed a report, issued a citation, and took the deceased cat. On Friday, July 29, 2016, Animal Control officers contacted Stephens, and stated that since Diemers contacted WWAY, local tv news, that they had no choice but to take Layla into custody. Stephens and her family have had no contact or visitation with Layla since. Mary Diemers has filed multiple complaints against Stephens and her dog, however no citations have been issued, due to no violations being found. Animal Control even asked Stephens to meet at a gas station, as to not give Diemers any satisfaction. On August 1, 2016, Animal Control stated that Diemers refuses to comply with anything they ask of her, that her words were, "Screw the report". WWAY apparently only reported one side of this story, the wrong side. I personally contacted them, and waiting for a response. Looking at Diemers past, she has some unethical traits herself. Maybe officials should consider the source before acting.
