Brucellosis Vaccination For Dogs

Brucellosis Vaccination For Dogs
The Issue
Recently, we made the toughest decision ever to put our much loved puppy, Odin, the old English Bulldog to sleep as he somehow contracted brucellosis from an unknown source. We didn't want him to live the rest of his life in pain, isolation and on antibiotics.
Unfortunately, they highly recommend Euthanasia due to the nature of the disease and the risk it poses to other animals and to humans as it is a zoonotic disease. Pregnant women and children are the highest at risk.
Unfortunately this disease is quite rare in Australia. Find out more about brucellosis here:https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/683482/B.suis-in-dogs.pdf
He was taken too soon at only 14 months of age. We had 11 beautiful months with him, he really has left a massive paw print in our hearts.
To attempt this from happening to other pet owners, we would like to make people aware of the disease in Australia (mostly QLD, Northern NSW and parts of Western Australia) but also to encourage a vaccination to be constructed which could save other furry friends lives.
We miss him dearly and would hate for another family to go through the same.
