Illinois needs a Budget!

The failure of Illinois lawmakers to pass a budget that supports essential services is causing enormous damage to the state. Politicians may be at war with each other but it is the children, families, seniors, and those with disabilities that are on the front lines and have become its casualties.

Illinois is now in its sixth month without a budget with no compromise in sight.

The harm has reached into every community in our state.  After-school programs, adult education, autism services, elder care, domestic violence prevention and many other programs have been cut or curtailed.

Both the cause of this crisis and the solution are completely at the doorstep of Governor Rauner and the General Assembly. It is long past time for our elected leaders to take responsibility and do the job we entrusted to them: protecting children, families and communities.

It’s time to pass the budget NOW!

• Introduce yourself by name and identify yourself as a constituent.

• Respectfully ask your legislator to call on their leadership to pass a budget that fully funds human services
• Keep track of your legislator's actions and follow up with a letter expressing thanks or disappointment
