Stop Cutting Mental Health Funding

Stop Cutting Mental Health Funding
The Issue
Governor Rauner's proposal would cut about $82 million from the department's Division of Mental Health, a 15% reduction.
About a 1/3 of the people who enter Cook County Jail each day are mentally ill.
Illinois cut spending on mental health by $187 million from 2009-2012, the fourth-largest reduction by percentage among states during those years, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Because of this, anyone who tries to receive mental help will not be able to get the help they need, causing problems to society such an increase of crime. This will lead to more people in prison, and more money for taxpayers.
Please sign this petition to show the Illinois government that mental health is a critical issue for those who are mentally ill and all of the citizens of the Illinois. We need a change in Illinois!
