Museums are fascinating places and on occasions they present you with something quite unique. Yesterday at our support Lowewood Museum Day I met a lady called Jill Ryan. In conversation Jill  told me that her maiden name had been Mattingly and that her American great uncle Ken Mattingly had been one of the crew of the Apollo 16 Moon Mission. Ken should have been on the Apollo 13 mission, but was withdrawn from the crew as a result of someone in his family becoming ill with measles shortly before the mission. However he was part of the mission control team that helped get Apollo 13 back to earth safely. Please do try and visit this informative exhibition in the coming weeks.
