In the past 7 years the pupils of 30 primary and 4 senior schools within the Borough of Broxbourne have benefited from the educational links with Lowewood Museum. As an educational centre the Museum is fundamental  in helping our current schoolchildren gain an understanding of their community and its development  over the centuries.

i was shown a letter received by Lowewood Museum this week from a school in the Borough. Here is a quote from that letter “The thinking and language that comes from these hands on sessions is invaluable and helps the children in understanding how toys have changed over time.”

The head of a Borough senior school was absolutely dismayed when he heard about Broxbourne Borough Council’s proposal to close the Museum. His school has been involved in two museum exhibitions this year and he spoke warmly of how their involvement had helped pupils who lacked communication skills. These same pupils were observed interacting with visitors to the museum and that is the kind of achievement that cannot be measured in financial terms.

Closure of Lowewood Museum will not only deprive our current school pupils of access to a vital educational resource, but also the generations to come.

Thank you for your continued support please continue to spread the word about this horrendous proposal.
