Just a few months ago, the Brown County Animal Shelter was a smooth operating organization that helped hundreds of dogs find new homes annually. Unfortunately due to the poor leadership currently, which is ran by the Brown County Humane Society, there have been major changes which have impacted the dogs in a very negative way. Due to new board members being in charge, who thought they would improve the organization by doing things “their way”, there have been so many illnesses within the dog population that they had to go as far as shutting the doors to the public at one point. The former shelter staff as well as seasoned volunteers were all either terminated or told they were no longer needed. Once new staff was brought in, they suddenly do not have enough operating funds to continue to run the shelter. They now have limited hours of operation, and are over run with dogs, due to the fact that they pushed everyone away that was willing to do whatever it took to give the animals a better life. Not only is this affecting the dogs locked in the kennels with poor conditions, but also affecting the community by them no longer working with the local police departments. This, my friends, is just the tip of the iceberg, of the problems going on within the Brown County Animal Shelter. Please help me bring these issues plus the many more to light. Sign this petition and stand with me at a future meeting of the Brown County Commissioners, to demand change in the leadership of the Brown County Animal Shelter before it’s too late!
