No Dog Pee on Abolitionist Underground Tunnels

No Dog Pee on Abolitionist Underground Tunnels
The Issue
The NYC Economic Development Commission (EDC) is planning to let dogs pee on top of the underground passage way that used to connect homes on Abolitionist Place.
We consider the fight against slavery a sacred task. Already the EDC has demolished several buildings with possible connections to the Underground Railroad. After massive protests, they were foiled in their plan to demolish 227 Abolitionist Place, which is a likely spot on the Underground Railroad. One reason the evidence is so strong is that 227 was connected by 223 and 225 Abolitionist place by an underground tunnel. While this does not prove an Underground Railroad connection, we will never know because they were demolished without a complete examination.
By NYC law, the EDC is required to spend $1 Million to honor Abolitionist history at Abolitionist Place Park. Instead of honoring this history, their newest design proposal would lay dog feces on sacred land.
We reject on the EDC proposal in its entirety. We demand the City Council fully investigate how a government entity would come up with such a plan. And we demand that the EDC calls this park by its proper name, Abolitionist Place Park.
