Healthier Options in Vending Machines at Brooklyn College
This petition had 35 supporters
Hi all, we are currently students at Brooklyn College (CUNY) in Brooklyn, New York. Walking through the halls, there are many vending machines that our fellow students buy snacks from everyday. One thing we've noticed is the unhealthiness of the foods and drinks that are offered by these vending machines. The vending machines sell chips, cookies, candy, juice, and soda, all of which are unhealthy and provide empty calories to students. Many college students forgo a healthy diet because of busy schedules and workloads, stress, and the expensive costs of healthy meals. Even though the school's vending machines provide quick and easy snacks, they are not healthy. Our goal is to convince Brooklyn College's administration to change the options provided by our vending machines or at the very least set up a few vending machines with healthier snack options in addition to the vending machines that are already here. Some healthier snack options would include fruit cups, yogurt, bagged fruits and nuts, granola bars, and flavored-seltzer water. Not only we will be providing students with healthier food options, but also by having organic food available, we can reduce our impact on the environment as well! Thank you for signing our petition and helping us reach our goal!
