My severely autistic son was living in a residential care home, had been for 10 years very happily. He often had bouts of stress and frustration and this made him difficult to deal with on occasions . He had a very stressful outburst and sadly bit his key worker. Unfortunately the home called the police and ambulance services and my very frightened son, Robert was sectioned and taken to a high security mental hospital. He was taken there in January 1st 2015. He was frightened, and didnt understand what was happening. He was transferred a few weeks later to another hospital in Stoke on Trent (our home town is Bromley Kent) and he is being held there to this day. It is a 9 hour round trip to visit him (supervised visits) this making visits very few and far between so all communications are mostly done on the phone. Robert is not a mental patient, he is a young man with severe learning disabilities and autism who needs a home. Bromley council who are responsible for providing the care he needs are failing to provide anywhere for him to live. The provisions for him are not there and he is continually being kept in a totally inappropriate hospital miles from home as they do not know where to put him. Robert needs a home near to his family and siblings. It is not right that he is being deprived of his liberty for no fault of his own. Please help my cause and put pressure on the authorities to get my son out of a mental hospital and in a home which he so desperately needs.
