Harold Robertson, 81 yrs of age, has been charged after a witness reported seeing him beating his dog with a hammer. The dog was found dead when officers arrived at Mr. Robertson's home.

Harold Robertson has been charged with one count of killing or injuring an animal, two counts of cruelty to an animal, and two counts of uttering threats.

The abuse of an animal is often the first indicator of domestic violence. A criminal who abuses animals exhibits disdain for life and a willingness to target and abuse the most defenseless of creatures.
