The Broadbeach State School Parents & Citizens Association Executive made the decision on 14 Sep 2021, that the graduating year 6 senior shirts will no longer have the graduating year printed on the shirts. The minutes of the meeting state the "decision made based on financial & sustainability aspect" Link to Minutes. This decision was made with no consultation with parents & does not represent the view of the school cohort. The Broadbeach P&C do not like to be questioned on their Facebook page and have removed questions, therefore lacking the transparency to the school community.  

The senior school shirts are a user pay system, which in previous years, the year 5 students would pay & place an order for the quantity of senior shirts they would like to purchase in term 4. These shirts in previous years have had the graduating year printed on them. 

Graduating year 6 is one of the most important stages of life for any 11 or 12 year old & part of the experience is being a senior with a senior shirt with the graduating year printed on it. Broadbeach P&C want's to destroy that opportunity with the removal of the year on the shirt. These kids have been through lockdowns, a lost trip away to Japan & now this!!!!

This petition is for the P&C to retract their position on the senior shirts and go back to how it was. I understand the ordering process and deadline at the end of the year  can put pressure on staff but this should not be reason to ruin year 6 for students. This will effect every graduating year at Broadbeach State School moving forward.  The results of the petition will be presented at the next P&C meeting 23 Nov.
