With the Supreme Court's refusal last week to hear BP's appeal, the Deepwater Horizon Settlement Agreement has finally and definitively been approved. The approval has set into motion the final six months in which to file a claim for economic losses associated with the spill. The deadline for businesses and individuals to do so is now June 8, 2015. Billions of dollars remain owing to Gulf area businesses and employees. All businesses in the region should at a minimum receive a free initial eligibility evaluation. Failure to do so could mean leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table, as the average claim value exceeds $200,000.
