Sentences for animal cruelty are limited to two years. There is no power to appeal a lenient sentence. In light of the huge swell of support for the government to review the sentences handed down to Andrew Furnish and another male it is time that this was changed. Sentences should be increased and the law amended to ensure that unduly lenient sentences for these crimes can be reviewed. 

 Animals should not suffer. Those who abuse them should be punished properly.
