The Learning DIsability Coalition's contract for the future 'Agreeing Together' has 15 agreements. The agreements say what needs to happen to make things better for people with a learning disabiltiy over the next 10 years.
Many individuals and organisations are signing to say that we all agree that everyone should;
-be valued and treated equally and fairly.
-know about and understand learning disability.
-be safe and live free from fear and hate crime.
-be supported to speak for themselves or have someone who can speak for them.
-have information in a way that they can understand it.
-be part of communities which support them and to be able to help others as well.
-be able to get out and about cheaply and safely.
-be supported in their family life, relationships and friendships.
-have a holiday and a social life.
-have enough money to live a reasonable life.
-have something to do and the chance of a job.
-have a choice of where to live.
-have the support they need including staff who are trained to do their job properly.
-have good quality healthcare.
-be supported to have an independent life and be able to make their own decisions.
We all agree. We want the British Government to sign to say that it agrees as well.
