arafa mansour started this petition to Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and

18 year old British medical student Osman Ahmed Badreldin Yousif Amir is a family friend. On the 11th May he was shot and killed by soldiers in Sudan while driving past a protest where the army was firing live rounds at protesters. His family are now calling on the British authorities to condemn this tragic killing.

Osman was an excellent student with a great future ahead of him. He studied in the UK at the King Edwards Grammar school in Chelmsford before moving to Sudan in 2015 and continuing his studies. He had 2 years left to graduate medical school in Khartoum at the time of his death.

On the day of his killing. Osmanwas driving past the protests and had nothing to do with them. As he got out of the car to run away, he was hit with multiple bullets; one fatally piercing his heart. His 2 friends were pulled out of the car and were beaten by the soldiers but managed to escape.

Osman was taken to Royal Care Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Unfortunately, no one is being held accountable. The Sudanese government had initially refused to provide a death certificate, but after a lot of pressure from the British Embassy, Lawyers, Osman’s family and protesters in Sudan, the death certificate was obtained.

The Sudanese government wanted to hide the true cause of death but were faced with severe pressure. In the mortuary, several officials wanted to bury the body quickly before the family had arrived in order to avoid any accusations against them. They threatened Osman’s aunt and brother (who were present in the mortuary) to leave or soldiers would come and forcefully remove them.

Osman’s family hold the Sudanese Transitional government fully responsible for Osmans death. Not only should this be a concern of every British citizen, it should be a concern to any human being. Please sign my petition calling on the British government to condemn this killing.
