What a weekend its turning out to be, and still got one more day to go.
Andrew Corcoran Finished off this second day of the 247 Mile Cycle. With little training, a borrowed Bike and his phone on google maps to Navigate him through his journey, he is doing phenomenal. Myself and Joanne Thomlinson, Joined him on the last 12 Miles of His journey from Carlisle to Wigton. I can't even begin to imagine cycling 90 miles in just one day, after struggling to cycle a mere 12.
Andrew seemed glad of the company even if we had slowed him down quite a bit. We took it easy and even managed to stop at WatchTree Nature Reserve outside Wigton for a quick refreshment and to take in the beautiful scenery. I even got surprised with my very own cycling proficiency certificate and badge (I had been worrying prior to the event wither it would be legal for me to cycle without one, much to the amusement of Joanne, Andrew and the Team at the Watchtree) Arriving in Wigton, Andrew celebrated his first day with the Biggest and tastiest Steak I have ever seen in My life which was so Generously donated by Richard Harrisons Butchers in Wigton, a Ice cold glass of Bubbles and a much deserved Bath. He set off early this morning from Wigton and arrived safely in good time at Windermere this afternoon. He Hopes to complete his challenge tomorrow in Liverpool.
Meanwhile yet more fundraising was taking part in Coventry where Paul Mannion who was also in the parachute regiment, and close friend of John Armstrong heroically done 1000 Pull Ups in under 3 hours. I for one never thought that to be humanely possible. I've yet to succeed in doing just one. But through strength, grit and determination, he complete his challenge this afternoon. Not even the blood dripping from the palms of his hands could stop him completing his challenge for his Friend John Armstrong and the men in prison.
They have raised over £5000!!!!!! https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sgo-paras
A unimaginable figure, and with the news that came from the lawyer this Morning that they have secured a date for a bail hearing on Monday the 12th of September, the money raised from this weekends events will help to fund the legal fees for the Bail hearing.
With the help of every single person who reads these updates, shares the petition and has donated, It's been possible.
Cycling with Andrew, and seeing the pictures from Paul's Pull Up Challenge had me in floods of tears. The past few days have been truly humbling. The strength, resilience, determination and kindness these men have shown is overwhelming. I genuinely believed 1000 pull ups was impossible. I thought a novice Cyclist, who had a borrowed a Bike would never be able to cycle 247 Miles. But they've proven that anything can be achieved. You CAN make the impossible possible.
