Dear Friends, You might be aware of Whale and Dolphin Conservation's ABTA petition that closes tomorrow. ABTA has superb guidelines for cetaceans in captive environments that, if enforced, could lead to a drastic change in the captivity industry. However, ABTA is not ensuring that their own members only do business with facilities that uphold these guidelines (we believe there are currently none, not even SeaWorld). SeaWorld violates at least 13 of ABTA's guidelines yet here are Virgin Holidays and many other ABTA members still selling trips to SeaWorld. British Airways also hides behind the ABTA guidelines to continue business with SeaWorld. At our October meeting last year, I handed BA a list of those 13 violations and just a month later BA proclaimed that SeaWorld exceeds ABTA's guidelines?!? Today is one the last days for signing WDC's petition and demanding from ABTA that they finally get this mess sorted!
