British Airways to commence a Direct Flight to Kolkata, India (CCU) from London, UK
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
British Airways left Kolkata in 2009 due to low yield. Considering the significant upturn in fortunes of the city over the last 9 years, being the epicentre of British India with significant cultural, human and business ties, it's time to come back to start a direct route between London and Kolkata.
A significant number of passengers travel between two cities using Emirates/Qatar/Etihad/Air India and a direct flight will only serve their cause. Additionally a large number of passengers travel to US cities from Kolkata which would provide them with a transfer at LHR/ LGW cutting their travel time shorter due faster connections and plethora of BA flights to US. This will also help large number of passengers travelling to or from UK to Kolkata taking advantge of British Airways extensive UK domestic network.
British Airways should not have any problem with yields.
