Paul Denham's story is one of shocking injustice and human endurance. For nearly three decades Paul, a British man, has languished in a Los Angeles prison for a crime he did not commit—a conviction based on evidence forged by corrupt police - and ignoring his powerful alibi, and a complete lack of physical evidence or eyewitness testimony placing him at the crime scene. 

The same system that is supposed to uphold justice has denied him a fair chance at proving his innocence. With no evidence linking Paul to this crime, and with his alibi sound, why has Paul been left to face unbearable conditions and suffer extreme abuse within the prison system?

This is not just a failure of justice in America—it is a British human rights issue - Paul is a British citizen.

We call upon the Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, Consular Minister Stephen Doughty, and FCDO to meet Paul Denham’s representatives, review the serious concerns surrounding his conviction and make appropriate diplomatic representations to the relevant US authorities in support of a full, fair and independent review.

Currently, the evidence in favour of Paul's innocence sits ignored, ensuring that Paul remains trapped in a cycle of injustice. Legal reviews and appeals have continuously met with bureaucratic hurdles, and his plight remains largely unknown outside of his personal circles. However, we believe in the power of collective action to spark change and bring about the justice that is long overdue.

Paul Denham's health and safety remain at risk every day he continues to be imprisoned unjustly. He has not only been a victim of a wrongful conviction but has also endured everyday violence and deprivation in a system that should protect him.
