Hello everyone. The new owners, Landrose Ltd, now have their planning application live on the Bristol City Council website.
We will be arranging a supporters meeting via Eastside Community Trust and their channels as soon as possible to gather your thoughts.
Things to note after a first quick read of the 50 documents:
1) There is a community engagement statement amidst these docs that I would say dramatically overstates the nature of the initial meeting we had with them in December.
This meeting was put forward to me as being ‘without agenda’ and ‘just to get to know each other.’ It absolutely in no way should count as community engagement from their end. I do not and never have claimed to represent the whole community - that would be crazy(!)
2) Landrose's plan (not ours) includes drawings for a 20-seat boutique cinema and taproom - we want to stress that, through the conversations we have had with Landrose, we believe this to be illustrative only and we believe that there is no funding or business plan in place to make this illustration a reality. Even if funding were somehow secured to build this boutique cinema, we have seen no evidence that such a model could be financially viable whilst retaining affordable ticket prices. In no way does it represent the vision that we have been working towards or the one we put to council, either in terms of viability or community engagement.
All of this should now be discussed and we are working to sort a meeting date and location via Eastside Community Trust.
Finally, the result of their ACV appeal is due tomorrow and we will let you know the outcome of that as soon as we have it.
Thanks!
