Horfield lack of Secondary school provision

The Issue

Our part of Horfield (Bishopston & Ashley Down ward, polling areas BAIC & BIAA, as well as Horfield ward HORF area) is not served by any of the supposedly local secondary schools. These are all over-subscribed and their intake covers a significantly smaller area than is suggested. These include Redland Green, Fairfield High, Orchard Academy. Trinity Academy assigns this portion of Horfield as 'area 2' of their catchment. There are many local primary schools, particularly Bishop Road, one of Bristol's largest primaries, with pupils who require ongoing secondary provision, yet provide no feeder school. Local families are being offered absurdly far options.

There needs to be an evaluation and re-allocation of catchment priority areas, so that this area is offered local provision.

Please join me in raising this as an issue to be addressed, for all local families.
