General Strike work stoppage

The youth of Bristol have been striking monthly since February yet, despite this, we have seen no significant action from the council and so we will continue until climate justice has been affirmed.

In November last year, Bristol was the first city in the UK to declare a climate emergency and in May of this year, the UK parliament followed suit.

On the 20th of September there will be a general strike. This means people of all ages are invited to join and fight for their future, youth and adults alike.

To show their support for the General Strike, Brighton on Hove council have passed a motion allowing their workers a 30 minute work stoppage free from repercussions.

We are requesting that the Bristol City Council follow Brighton Hove Council’s example and put in place a 30 minute work stoppage between 12:00-12:30 to allow their workers to safely attend part of the General Strike.

The only way to reverse the effects of climate change is to work together. Our future is on the line.
