Protect Bridgeman Downs and Surrounds from Over Development

The issue

Brisbane City Council (BCC) is currently deciding the future of Bridgeman Downs and its surrounding suburbs. The Bridgeman Downs Neighbourhood Plan is currently out for consultation and will determine the next decade of development of the neighbourhood.

The current plan puts the future of our neighbourhood under threat by allowing over-development, small blocks, and commercial infrastructure. Our greenspace, wildlife, bushland and community atmosphere is at risk.

Please help us to retain what we love about our leafy North Brisbane suburbs by signing this petition. We will be presenting this petition to BCC as part of its consultation process on the Neighbourhood Plan. By signing you are agreeing with our proposal to BCC which is to include the following in its neighbourhood plan:

1. Disallow any development on any bushland marked as ecologically significant and prioritise the BCC's purchasing of this land.

2. All areas west of Bridgeman, Carseldine and Beckett Road to be maintained as acreage zoning.

3. Restricting lot sizes to a minimum 700 square metres and disallowing further townhouses.

4. Disallowing commercial development such as service stations and fast food outlets.

5. All new developments to include greenspace.

6. New developments to have a minimum street width similar to those of older estates.

PLEASE NOTE: The Brisbane City Council requires e-petitions to include a person's full name and address to accept their 'signature'. If you'd like to assist us to ensure the council accepts your 'signature' head to our Google doc that we will be sending to council: Further Details Google Doc
