The Issue

When MLB cut 40 minor league teams in 2021 they cut ties with a system that made baseball truly special.  The St. Louis Cardinals for example  once built an empire with over 30 farm teams. It gave everyday players a fighting chance to become legends. Whether you make it to the big leagues and become a hometown icon like the “Wampum Walloper” Richard “Dick” Allen or Stan "The Man" Musial, towns like Hanover deserve that legendary magnitude. For the love of the game of baseball and a city with such rich history Hanover, Pennsylvania, which holds the nickname "the snack capital of the world.

PETITION TO EXPAND PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL DEVELOPMENT. I call on The MLB, City/State officials, The Citizens of Hanover, and all Baseball Fans, and Enthusiasts To support me and see how sport, specifically baseball can bring a community together even at the minor league level.

Major League Baseball’s restriction of the minor league system to just 4 affiliates per team was a disservice to players, fans, and small-market communities. We, the undersigned fans, active players, and citizens of Hanover, PA (The Snack Capital of the World), demand that MLB reconsider its strict farm caps in upcoming labor and CBA negotiations. We want more opportunities for independent ballplayers to advance while giving destinations such as Hanover a unique opportunity to showcase their rich heritage by hosting a historic MLB franchise affiliate. (you can’t say you love baseball, complain about the dodgers, want a lockout, but not more baseball, and all of that while not understanding or knowing the history behind the farms).

The Famous Hot Weiner, a family-owned restaurant in York County since 1923, has been serving its renowned hot dogs for four generations.

Utz Brands Stadium | The American Dream/Outfielder/Chef Ramone Allen says “What a dream it would be to play at such a stadium. Can you actually imagine it? I can” I read a book or a few about “diversions” and baseball stadiums. Hanover is a no brainer for a successful affiliate. The only issue to be honest would be who gets the team on their farm and why. The Phillies or The Cardinals? There is a conversation to be had if people are going to bring up The Brewers and The Dodgers.

Hanover, Pennsylvania (Hot Weiners) A St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Farm affiliate

P.S. : Yes I love Hanover, Food, and Baseball this much. It all sounds like a great day at the ballpark to me … with even greater people.
