St. Ursula's NEU are delighted to announce that following his hearing on May the 15th, our Union Rep and Head of History Alex Turpie has correctly been found to have no case to answer and has been fully exonerated by the independent panel and investigation.
In our view having seen the evidence, Mr Turpie should never have been suspended in the first place.
Our colleague and friend has had an appalling ordeal over the last 8 months, which has greatly affected the wellbeing of him and his family.
This has been a poor reward for 23 years of outstanding service to the school and wider community.
Mr Turpie would like to thank the amazing support of his colleagues in school for having the strength and solidarity to take industrial action and campaign on his behalf. As well as students and parents both past and present.
Greenwich NEU Rep Tim Woodcock and regional officer Michael Gavan have also been a non stop source of advice and representation during this difficult time.
Unfortunately this flawed and unnecessary lengthy process has deprived the students of St Ursula's of a passionate and experienced teacher. Not only this but because of the schools unwillingness to communicate and engage with the NEU we had no choice but to call strikes that could easily have been avoided.
The NEU will be calling on the school and RB Greenwich to amend their procedures to ensure nobody working in a Greenwich school ever has to go through such an unfair ordeal again.
