Bring Valnia back to St. Lucie West K-8 School
The Issue
Our friend Valnia was more than just a fellow student at St. Lucie West K-8 School – she was a shining light in our halls, a friend to all, and a cornerstone of our community. Her laughter could brighten any day, and her kindness was a balm to those in need of friendship. Tragically, Valnia was subjected to bullying at her Somerset College Preparatory School, forcing her to leave a place that she, and we, dearly loved.
We have all felt her absence since she left. Without her presence, the school just doesn't feel the same. Families, teachers, and students alike are in unanimous agreement: "We want Valnia back!" Her return would not only rectify the injustice she faced due to bullying but also restore harmony and joy in our school environment.
Bullying is an issue that affects students globally, with nearly 1 in 5 students reporting being bullied at school as per data from the National Center for Education Statistics. This experience can lead to long-term psychological impacts that affect a child's learning and emotional health. We believe it’s crucial to have systems in place that protect our students and create a supportive environment.
Valnia's situation is a testament to why these systems must be not only enforced but also updated.
