The Issue

Stand with Reverend Samuel Ikechukwu Nnamdi A Dedicated UPS Driver, Teamster Brother, and Father Separated from His Children

An ancient proverb reminds us: “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”

Today, a devoted father, faithful minister, and tireless essential worker needs our collective voice.

Reverend Samuel Ikechukwu Nnamdi has dedicated his life to honest service. For years, he donned the brown uniform as a commercial delivery driver for UPS, showing up through harsh weather, grueling shifts, and relentless peak seasons to keep American communities connected. As a proud, dues-paying member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Samuel lived the core union creed daily: an injury to one is an injury to all.

Beyond the driver’s seat, Samuel is an ordained reverend and author who poured his energy into building up his neighbors, mentoring youth, and preaching faith, discipline, and community restoration. Most importantly, Samuel is the rock of his household a husband and the loving father of five children, two of whom are young United States citizens.

Today, that foundation has been shattered.

Through an unfair and unjust immigration process, Samuel was deported to Ghana, torn away from his home, his union brothers and sisters, and the children who depend on him for emotional guidance and daily bread.

A home without a father is an open wound. Scripture asks, “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?” Samuel worked with his own two hands to ensure his children never had to ask twice. Now, across thousands of miles of ocean, five young children wake up each morning looking at an empty chair at the dinner table. His American-born children are enduring profound trauma and severe hardship simply because the father who tucked them into bed at night has been removed from their side.

Samuel did not shrink from labor. He carried cargo, honored his contracts, paid his taxes, and lived with integrity. Uprooting a father who has given so much of his sweat and spirit to this country does not strengthen our communities; it only fractures families who represent the very backbone of working America.

Mercy and justice must meet.

We are calling upon the U.S. President Donald J. Trump, the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and congressional leaders to exercise humanitarian discretion: grant Reverend Samuel Ikechukwu Nnamdi humanitarian parole, reopen his immigration proceedings, and allow him to return home to his wife, his children, and his livelihood.

Brothers and sisters in brown across every hub in the world, fellow trade unionists, people of faith, and everyone who believes in the sanctity of family: lend your name. Let us stand in the gap for a man who spent his life standing up for others.

Sign the petition today and demand that Samuel be reunited with his family.
