My name is Nicole. Growing up, my son found his passion for BMX racing at the tender age of 2. It all started with his little Strider bike, and as he grew older, so did his love for this exhilarating sport. Every time we visited a BMX track, I witnessed firsthand the incredible sense of community and family that surrounded it. From dads forming teams to the overall welcoming atmosphere, I saw how this sport positively impacted families.

Now, I am determined to bring this same sense of belonging and excitement to our beloved city of Elko. With its wide range of recreational activities already available, adding a BMX track would be an incredible asset that would benefit our community in numerous ways.

1. Promoting Active Lifestyles: The construction of a BMX track in Elko would provide an additional avenue for residents, especially children and teenagers, to engage in physical activity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), regular exercise can help prevent chronic diseases such as obesity and heart disease.

2. Fostering Youth Development: Participating in sports like BMX racing has been proven to enhance youth development by promoting discipline, perseverance, goal-setting skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. These qualities are essential for success both on and off the track.

3. Boosting Local Economy: A well-designed BMX facility can attract visitors from neighboring towns or even states who are passionate about this sport. This influx of visitors will undoubtedly have a positive impact on local businesses such as hotels/motels, restaurants/cafes near the track location.

4. Community Engagement: A dedicated space for BMX racing will encourage families within our community to come together regularly during races or practice sessions at the track. This shared experience will strengthen bonds between parents and their children while fostering new friendships among participants.
