Bring the Lantz shorts to MeTV, The Lantz Restoration Effort

Bring the Lantz shorts to MeTV, The Lantz Restoration Effort
The Issue
Now, Walter Lantz, the other Walt as others would prefer, was an animator. More specifically, he was a production manager for a studio under his own name, hosting many talents such as Laverne Harding, Pat Matthews, Edward Love, Les Kline, Grim Natwick, George Dane, Bill Nolan, Manuel Moerno, the list goes on and on. Well, at that Walter Lantz studio, he was responsible for the creation of characters, Chilly Willy, Andy Panda, and of course, Woody Woodpecker.
Well, I bring this up because we have been seeing a slew of shorts being restored as of late, and we wish to understand that the shorts owned by Universal should be kept in better hands. So we want to pitch this idea for NBCUniversal regarding the concept of restoring not just the Woody cartunes, but several cartunes beyond the woodpecker.
Here's the thing: Universal can restore films if they wanted to, but they often don't since they want to focus on their mainline stuff such as their franchises, and with the closure of the Kidzone in 2023, it makes it impossible for audiences to see the bird again. That's where we, the fans, step in.
Seeing how Rockin' Pins and Paramount have been in a major effort restoring the Max Fleischer shorts, we want Universal to approach the same idea, not only to bring audiences several cartoons by Walter Lantz, but to help preserve a long-lasting legacy of that unsung animator from the Golden Age of Animation because we feel that Walter Lantz was just as important in the field of animation as Tex Avery. And we all knew where Tex got his start and his end in the medium.
