The Issue

To: Warner Bros. Discovery Consumer Products, Universal Destinations & Experiences, and SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment
For decades, animation fans and theme park historians have watched a masterpiece of animation history sit locked away in a corporate vault.
In 1990, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera debuted as an opening-day flagship attraction at Universal Studios Florida. It wasn’t just a simulator ride; it was a breathtaking historical artifact. It featured pristine, theatrical-quality, traditionally hand-drawn character animation directed by the legendary Sullivan Bluth Studios (Don Bluth) team, seamlessly mixed with pioneering 3D digital environments. Most importantly, it featured a brilliant, heart-warming three-screen pre-show starring the founding fathers of television animation themselves: William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. [1, 2]
While the attraction media was later distributed by SimEx-Iwerks to regional parks in the mid-2000s, the film has been completely unseen since 2011. The commercial attraction distribution rights remain at a standstill, leaving this incredible crossover event entirely unavailable to the public.

Our Core Demands:
A Limited "Fan Fest Nights" Overlay at Universal Studios Hollywood: We petition Universal Destinations & Experiences to utilize the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction theater during Universal Fan Fest Nights for a limited, retro throw-back run. Because Minion Mayhem utilizes modern motion-simulator technology compatible with legacy ride profiling, it serves as the ultimate destination for fans to experience the Funtastic World uncut on the West Coast. [1, 2, 3]
A Traveling Theatrical Return: Allow SimEx-Iwerks to re-license the uncut 4D film to regional theme parks, museums, and science centers worldwide as a limited-edition 70th-anniversary legacy event.

The Uncut Pre-Show Preservation: Ensure that any revival or archive preservation includes the complete, multi-screen pre-show presentation featuring Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, preserving their live-action legacy for future generations. [1]
A Premium Home Media Release: Include a fully remastered 4K/Blu-ray rendering of the ride film and its pre-show (utilizing multi-angle or split-screen formatting) as a cornerstone bonus feature on upcoming Hanna-Barbera anniversary physical media and digital collections.

Don't let this beautifully animated piece of our childhood vanish into history. Let's bring Yogi, Boo Boo, Elroy Jetson, Scooby-Doo, Fred Flintstone, Barney Rubble, George Jetson and the team back to the screen where they belong!
Sign and share to help show corporate leadership the massive demand for this lost treasure!
