Despite repeated promises from local councillors to push Essex County Council on TfL bus services in Waltham Abbey, we have now heard nothing for months.

It has been over a year since our petition was submitted and the London Assembly unanimously voted for TfL to restore bus services between Waltham Abbey and Chingford. A year later, nothing has changed.

It is now time for Essex County Council to act—and since then, we've heard nothing. No updates, no progress, just silence.

TfL have welcomed talks with Essex County Council on reinstating and improving bus services in Waltham Abbey. Councillors assured us they would push for Essex County Council to take action, especially with £17.8 million in national bus service improvement funding allocated to Essex County Council.

Yet months later, all we’ve had is silence.

🚫 No updates from county representatives.
🚫 No progress on funding discussions with TfL.
🚫 No explanation for the inaction.

Meanwhile, our bus services continue to decline:

❌ No link to Chingford or anywhere else inside the adjoining GLA area.
❌ Unreliable services and abandoned bus stops.
❌ Sunday & bank holiday services remain severely limited.
❌ Operators continue cutting routes without public consultation.
❌ No integration with the wider TfL network—just rising costs and confusion.

So what’s really going on?

If Essex County Council has once again refused to support TfL services in Waltham Abbey, they must be honest about it. If not, why the silence?

📣 We need answers. We need transparency. And we need action—before more time is wasted. The people and businesses of Waltham Abbey deserve better.
