Currently the abroad City Pop fans can enjoy Tatsuro Yamashita’s songs in one of the following ways;

1. Illegally downloading them
2. Listening to illegal uploads
3. Spending a lot of money (at least $100+ usd) to buy his vinyls/cds and ship them to the country the fans live in

In any case, the ones who get money are those who didn’t take part in making the music. I know that music streaming services don’t pay the artists much, but it is still better than these three ways.

Most importantly, if Tatsuro accepts having his songs on music streaming services, the more fans abroad have access to his music legally, which is the main point and it is a win for the artist.

Now's time to change the situation!!

現在、海外の山下達郎ファンは以下の３通りで彼の音楽を聴けます。

1. 違法ダウンロード
2. 違法アップロード
3. 最低１万円以上のお金を支払い日本からレコード・CD等を購入し、自分の住む国へ発送

いずれの場合も、お金を得ているのは、達郎さんの音楽制作に関わっていない人達です。確かにSpotifyなどの音楽ストリーミングサービスではアーティストに十分なお金が支払われませんが、それでも音楽ストリーミングサービスはこの３つの手段よりも良いと思います。

一番大事なことは、達郎さんの音楽がストリーミングサービスで聴けるようになることで、海外のファンが正当な(違法でない)方法で達郎さんの音楽を楽しめるということです。そしてこれはアーティストにとっても望ましい状況だと思います。

この状況を変える時がきました！
