As parents, guardians, students, and members of the Canton community, we want our children to have safe, reliable, and technology-driven transportation to and from school.

We are asking Canton Public School District (CPSD) to explore a SMART school bus transportation system that would provide:

🚌 Live GPS bus tracking so parents can see where the bus is and receive estimated arrival times.

💳 Student badge scanning when children get ON and OFF the bus, creating a secure digital record of their transportation activity.

📱 Parent notifications when a child boards the bus and when they arrive at their designated stop.

📍 Verified pickup and drop-off information so authorized school staff can know when and where students were scanned.

🚨 Transportation alerts for missed scans, unexpected activity, or route issues.

📊 Transportation data and analytics to help CPSD improve routes, communication, and efficiency.

We are NOT asking CPSD to immediately purchase a specific product. We are asking the district to explore the technology, allow qualified vendors to demonstrate their systems, and consider starting with a small pilot program before making a districtwide decision.

As a former Canton Public School District student and now a parent of two CPSD students, I believe our children deserve the same level of technology and communication during their ride to and from school that we are working to provide inside our schools.

This is about safety. This is about communication. This is about peace of mind.

Let’s ask CPSD to explore Canton SafeRide and work with parents, the community, and potential corporate partners such as Nissan and Amazon/AWS to help make safer, smarter student transportation possible.
