Bring Pickleball Courts to Alexandria Park!
The Issue
🏓
Petition: Bring Pickleball Courts to Alexandria Park
To: Alexandria Township Parks and Recreation Committee
From: Supporters of Active, Inclusive Community Recreation
We, the undersigned, respectfully request the construction of dedicated Pickleball courts at Alexandria Park.
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. As residents of Alexandria Township and surrounding communities, we believe that providing dedicated Pickleball courts at Alexandria Park would greatly benefit the health, wellness, and social engagement of all ages within our community.
🧍♂️
Filling a Gap in Adult Recreation
Currently, there are children focused recreational amenities at Alexandria Park. While Pickeball is also popular with the youth, Pickleball courts would offer much-needed programming for adults and seniors—helping our township better serve all age groups, not just children.
The nearby homes are far enough away from the park that the sound generated by Pickleball play would not in anyway present a nuisance anymore that the cheering noise from soccer & baseball games that currently take place at the park.
Why Pickleball Courts at Alexandria Park?
🌳 Utilizes existing park infrastructure
👫 Encourages inclusive, multigenerational participation
🏘️ Fosters family, adult and senior engagement
💵 Cost-effective compared to other sports facilities
🏆 Creates opportunities for leagues, lessons, and tournaments
🔇 Low sound impact due to park layout and surrounding distance to homes
We urge the Alexandria Township Parks and Recreation Committee to:
Allocate funding for the construction of 2–4 dedicated Pickleball courts
Identify a suitable, sound-responsible location within Alexandria Park
Prioritize this project in the upcoming parks improvement plan
Let’s bring a healthy, fun, and inclusive sport to Alexandria Township.
📌 Sign this petition and share it with neighbors, family, and friends who support better adult recreation in our town.
