My daughter is a Navy Soldier and she attempted suicide. If the other cadets did not save her she would have been dead, and I would not have had a clue. When she told me I immediately began crying and feeling strife. What happened? What can I do? Is it going to happen again? 

When I asked my daughter what does she need the only thing she asked for was “Dad can you please come see me?” I just want you to come, can you come. It tore my heart because this was an expected near tragedy and I didn’t have money to buy a last second flight. I signed my daughter up to serve this country and when she needs her parent more than anything the military isn’t paying for us to get to our children. That is why I am starting this petition.

As parents we shouldn’t have to wait for our child to die before we sit at a funeral, receiving apologies and a folded flag. Get us to our child first! We know them and if they request our presence there should be funding to get us there to rescue our children Americas soldiers. According a YahooNews and multiple other outlet reports suicide in the Navy have spiked drastically. What is when attempts are made or flags are raised the military contacted the parents to come out. It may not stop all suicides but it can prevent some.
