Bring Our Girls Home
The Issue
I am a father who has been denied the right to care for my own daughters. Without my knowledge, their mother gave them away and they are now in the custody of interveners. Despite being deemed fit enough to care for my son with special needs, I have been told it is not in the best interest of my daughters for them to be under my care. This ruling seems arbitrary and unclear, especially as I maintain a steady job and provide a stable home environment.
In Texas, parental rights are fundamental and protected by law. However, these rights can be undermined when custody is awarded to non-parents without clear guidelines or due process. The state should not award custody to non-parents if biological parents are available, willing and able to take care of their children.
This situation highlights an urgent need for change in our child welfare system. We must ensure that parents are given due process before their parental rights are given away and that there exist strict guidelines preventing arbitrary rulings where children are given into the hands of non-parents.
Join me in urging our lawmakers in Texas to review this case specifically, but also more broadly look at how custody decisions are made within our state's legal system. Let's protect parental rights and keep families together whenever possible! Please sign this petition today!
