For nearly two decades, the music of Sigur Rós has been a source of profound emotional connection and healing for millions of fans across the globe. While we continue to support and deeply love the band’s current journey, there is a distinct, undeniable void that has remained since 2018: the absence of Orri Páll Dýrason.
Orri was not just a drummer; he was the rhythmic heartbeat of Sigur Rós. From the delicate, slow-building tension in Festival, Popplagið and Takk... to the thunderous, industrial driving force behind Kveikur, Orri’s dynamic range shaped the very landscape of your sound. Tracks like "Sæglópur" and "Brennisteinn" stand as testaments to his unique ability to transition from fragile intimacy to overwhelming, explosive energy.
We, the global Sigur Rós community, fully respect the circumstances and the mutual, difficult decisions made in 2018 to protect the band and everyone involved. However, as years have passed, we want to voice our enduring love and appreciation for Orri’s immense contribution to the art you created together. The chemistry between Jónsi’s ethereal vocals and bowed guitar, Georg’s grounding bass, Kjartan’s atmospheric piano, and Orri’s masterful drumming is a once-in-a-lifetime magic.
This petition is born purely out of love for the music. We respectfully ask the band and Orri to consider opening the door to a musical reunion. We miss the irreplaceable energy of the classic lineup on stage and in the studio.
