Bring Nita back for the last week of school

The Issue

I, Bailey Colvin, have personally experienced the transformative effects of having a service dog during my high school years. Nita has been instrumental in helping me overcome various difficulties and successfully complete my education. As graduation approaches, it is only fitting that the ones who played a significant part in this journey be permitted to partake in the celebration of our achievements.

Many are unaware that service dogs do more than just provide physical assistance. They also provide emotional support, which plays a crucial role in our mental health. With stress and anxiety ever-present among students, especially during transition periods such as graduation, the presence of our service dogs is of paramount importance. According to the American Kennel Club, service dogs have proven their benefit to people with various conditions, from mobility impairments to psychiatric problems, making their exclusion from crucial life events ineffective and unjust.

I urge the school administration and relevant bodies to consider this request, for Nita to come to school for the last week of my senior year. Let's celebrate inclusivity and understand the unique bonds between service dogs and their handlers. Allow Nita to attend the last week of school and graduation ceremonies. Sign this petition to show your support for students with service dogs. Together, we can make a difference.
