BRING NEWPORT JUMPS TO LIFE!

BRING NEWPORT JUMPS TO LIFE!
The issue
Imagine a place in Redcliffe where kids, teens, and adults can come together to ride, learn, and challenge themselves in a safe and positive environment. Newport Jumps has the potential to be that place—a dedicated bike park designed for all ages and skill levels. A space where young people can channel their energy into skill-building, outdoor activity, and friendship, rather than being left with limited options for recreation.
Currently, our community lacks structured spaces for biking, which means young people who are passionate about the sport often have nowhere to ride. This leaves them practicing in unsafe areas or on unofficial trails, risking their safety and potentially causing disturbances. By building a well-designed bike park at Newport Jumps, we can provide them with a secure, exciting environment to ride and grow.
A bike park would do more than just keep riders safe; it would contribute significantly to community well-being:
Supporting Youth Development and Reducing Crime: Research shows that engaging youth in sports and recreation reduces boredom, decreases risky behavior, and even lowers crime rates. According to the Australian Institute of Criminology, young people involved in sports are 30% less likely to engage in criminal activities. Newport Jumps could be a powerful tool in helping our youth make positive choices.
Promoting Health and Fitness: In an age where screens often dominate our free time, a bike park encourages outdoor activity and fitness. It gives kids and adults alike a chance to enjoy physical exercise, build strength, and develop skills, all while having fun.
Fostering Community and Friendship: A bike park is more than just a place to ride—it's a gathering spot where people can meet, connect, and form lasting friendships. It brings together riders of all ages and backgrounds, uniting them through a shared passion and promoting a sense of belonging in the community.
We need your support to make Newport Jumps a reality! By signing this petition, you're showing our council that a safe, well-maintained bike park is something our community values and needs.
Let’s build a space where young riders can develop skills, experience adventure, and stay active in a safe and supportive environment. Newport Jumps has the potential to become a landmark for our community—a place that promotes health, safety, and togetherness for all.
